"A good farmers' market is more than just a collection of vendors. It’s a meeting ground, an educational space, an entertainment venue, and a grocery store all at once. It's where a community comes together over a mutual love of food. Everybody loves food. The fresher, the better. 

Every summer, these beautiful little pockets of pastries and produce spring up throughout the city. But with so many markets in the city and surrounding neighborhoods, it can be hard to pick just one. Here are five standouts. "

Located on a century farmstead in Northeast Ohio, Lucky Penny Farm is a family goat dairy farm which produces rich, nutritious milk – ideal for the tasty artisanal cheeses and candies they handcraft for you in small batches every day. Lucky Penny Candy believes in shortening the distance from farm to table and the smart utilization of natural resources to this end. 

 

Cajeta is similar to Dulce de leche, a Spanish term for ‘in a milk-based sauce.’ Found as both a syrup and a caramel candy, it is prepared by slowly heating sweetened goat's milk to create a product that is the basis for the elaboration of many sweets and desserts of the Argentinean, Colombian, Paraguayan, Chilean, Peruvian and Uruguayan cuisine.

Worthington Farmers Market: June 15th

It's a busy week in Worthington! Join us for fun both Saturday and Sunday. 

Worthington Art Festival: Join us in celebrating the 21st annual Worthington Art Festival sponsored by the Olde Worthington Business Association. The festival will take place on all four quadrants of the Village Green on Saturday, June 15th from 9am to 6pm and continue on Sunday, June 16th from 11am to 5pm.

This juried show features more than 150 select artists and fine craftsmen from across the country exhibiting sculptures, ceramics, oils, watercolors, furniture, jewelry, fiber, glass, photography and mixed media in applied and fine arts.

Market Sprouts: Once per month (the third Saturday), our "Friends of the Market" volunteer group hosts a kids activity designed to engage your children in the food system. Whether it's kneading bread dough, making instruments with Shagbark black beans, or tasting the rainbow, we make food fun for your kids!

Ever wonder what a sweet potato plant looks like? This week, we'll match fruits and vegetables to their plants and understand what they look like before they come to market. Visit the RED information tent at the NE corner of New England and High, and let your kids get to know their food.
